"Soil organisms for human consumption have had very little study in the USA and in Europe they are strictly regulated for use only in livestock. I took this product for a few years, and I think it may have contributed to the severe bacterial overgrowth of my small intestine. Do a lot of research before taking any probiotic as not all strains are suitable for everyone. The exception is possibly acidophilus, and even bifidus can become pathogenic in immune compromised people. I feel this product should be pulled until further research is done on it."

"After dealing with an auto-immune issue for 20 years, I have not had a problem since I started taking Primal Defense more than 4 years ago. This is the best product I've tried for maintaining a healthy gut and immune system."

"It really doesn't matter what your bowel movement is like. To loose or to hard, Primal Defense just helps fix the problem. I take one pill in the morning and one pill in the evening. I have been using this product since 2005 when my ear, nose, and throat doctor suggested the product. He recommended it because it just helps you feel better."

"And as long as you are having a daily dose of fiber as well as this probiotic, you will be both regular and cleaned out. Naturally, without any drugs. Digestion is a large factor in the health of human beings. So I'm happy with this product :)"

NYSailorScout, New York
"I had a lot of trouble with Colitis and my doctors Rx's were not getting the job done. I starting taking this and was off all prescriptions in 3 weeks. It also helped me a lot with my sleeping problems, which I was not expecting. I have had trouble sleeping for as long as I can remember!"

"I have been purchasing this product for years-at least 6 years if not more. It does help my digestion, and it also strengthens my immune system. When my immune system is down I get cold sores-few times a months-however, when I take primal defense it strengthens my immune system and I don't get cold sore(to my understanding and research, cold sores erupt when immune system is down. Also, I have acidity problems and the probiotics helps to keep it in check, if I also take care of my diet-having more alkalizing fool. Great product."

"These pills are huge! If you can't swallow pills well, don't get this. There's no way they will go down my throat. I've been putting the powder in applesauce, but I'm sure that reduces the effectiveness somewhat. The contents of the capsule don't taste like anything. It's like eating several mouthfuls of dirt."

"I am just beginning to try Probiotics for management of IBS and am encouraged as it seems to be helping so far and somewhat. This particular product was recommended as a good one, and I thought the value here was good. If it continues to help me, I will order again..."

"I give this a generous two stars for two reasons. 1 - it did improve things very slightly for me, and 2 - It is very possible (even probable) that other diets or other people might find this combination of probiotics to work for them, just not for me... Here is my story: To be blunt, I lacked "regularity," but I didn't want to permanently be on citrucel or metamucil with all their sugar (or artificial sweeteners) and chemicals. So, I tried 2 probiotics that were very well reviewed. First I tried this product - Primal Defense Ultra which didn't help much. Then I tried something called Primal Flora (available through I saw a little improvement, but still nothing that could justify spending 27 bucks a month. I had pretty much given up that probiotics could be helpful for me, but I decided to try one more. Thankfully I tried Sedona iFlora and within two days, things started flowing nicely. I've been on it for a full month and it is going as hoped. I'm not sure if Sedona's product is better, or if some probiotics work better for some people, or if it is the way it works in combination with your diet. For me Primal Defense didn't do it, but Sedona's iFlora did."

"I waited a long while before doing this review. I wanted to be sure and give it a fair shake. I greatly admire Jordan Rubin; his vision; his testimony; his new venture "Beyond Organic" and all that he hopes for. I very much wanted to like this product and be able to support him by being a customer in this purchase, but unfortunately (for me), I cannot. I also realize that my body's system, in particular the digestive system, is very, very difficult to get working and is a constant effort and challenge, therefore what might work well for others won't necessarily do anything for me, and such was the case with this product. I didn't experience anything whatsoever. It might just as well have been a placebo and I wish I could get a refund. I will NOT be ordering this product again (obviously)and I can't tell you how disappointed that makes me. I have to wholeheartedly agree with "Steve's" review (Feb 2011) that perhaps different strains of bacteria enzymes work better for others and will probably try the one he recommended. I have also had luck with the "Pearls". I'm sorry, folks. It just didn't happen. I'm glad it seems to have worked for most people, however."

"I have been using this product for 3 years. Besides not getting the cold & Flu, this product has resolved my IBS. That makes it worth it ."
